Director of Credits and Incentives

Full Time, Remote, Hybrid, Los Angeles, CA (El Segundo)

We are looking for a technically savvy tax expert primed to join the team behind the only dedicated Tax Credits & Incentives SaaS platform on the market, Incentify.  Ideally, you have worked with a team in a fast-paced environment to identify financial assistance, tax savings, and other incentive-related opportunities for clients. In this role, you will work with companies of all sizes to assist with maximizing economic development incentives and with evaluating real estate, labor, and taxes as they consider capital expansions.

This position reports directly to our CFO and it requires the ability to visit the El Segundo office on a regular basis (ideally twice a week).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responds to client inquiries and requests from federal, state & local tax agencies.

  • Researches credit and incentive programs, tax laws, rules & regulations, analyzes their application to determine client eligibility.

  • Assists Manager in developing project work plans and scheduling associated project deliverables.

  • Assists team with managing compliance of existing incentives to ensure benefits are received.

  • Reviews and reconciles client data downloads and identifies tax issues to research.

  • Prepares applications, tax forms, and amended returns for various credits and incentives.

  • Drafts filings like petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative replies.

  • Performs detailed calculations of credit and incentive benefits.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • 10+ years of work experience in tax preparation and tax credits & incentives. Your career should have seen you with roles at some combination of the following:

    • Public accounting firm

    • Law firm

    • In-house corporate tax department

    • State economic development agency

  • High business acumen

  • Great communicator 

  • Track record of success driving outcomes across an organization with multiple stakeholders

  • Proven self-starter who can be productive and successful with limited supervision

  • CPA required

  • Preferred qualifications: MBA, Masters of Public Accounting, and/or LLM in Taxation
